The whole net neutrality thing has been drawn out for so long it’s hard to keep caring about it. I can only care about something continuously for so long until I start to not give a shit anymore

No I didn't. I said you form views oppositionally (e.g. "lefties like it so I assume it's bad").
This may shock you, but sometimes people, especially those with lives, rightly use political parties to guide their opinions because they don't have time to read up on every fucking issue that pops up in the news.
Given what the american political parties are, that's exactly why we're fucked.

I remember back in the days of SOPA and PIPA, the massive public opposition eventually lead to these retarded bills being quashed. This time around, it seems like the repeal of net neutrality went through without strong public opposition, despite a substantial majority public disapproval. Did Americans just decide to lie down, give up the fight and cede full control of the internet to telecom CEOs and lobbyists?

perfect example in this thread - US politics always has to shoehorn issues into retarded left-vs-right partisan 'battles' where everyone's just repeating the party line

it is really cringeworthy. if you're what is usually labeled as a right-winger then you have to mindlessly advocate for the free market (nothing wrong with that, but it's kinda sad when you see some retarded inbred piece of shit who can barely make ends meet repeating the party lines and playing right into the hands of the corporate feudalism that is making his unskilled labor outdated), embrace global warming, autistically screeching over benghazi, shitting on the internet because of muh regulations and so on. and the same set of dynamics lies at the basis of the "leftist" herd behavior
