There are some mental conditions the mind, the human will, can't overcome. In those cases medication might be very helpful. Here in Germany a psychiatrist will only try to assist the therapy with medication if necesarry. It is a lot more about dealing with traumas and working on deep seated behavioral patterns that are hurtful to the patient's quality of life.
You don't get paid to fix yourself so if you refuse to take drugs the psychiatrist has to figure out another way to help you if possible. -

2017-12-14 at 1:30 PM UTCProbably. I've seen documentaries about your prison system, too and I'd say a good 70% of the people they have shown are actual crazy people. We lock them up in seperate places and the treatment is a lot different, too.

Yeah, the prison system here is totally monetized and totally fucked. They don't care about mental issues, they just throw you in SHU and put antipsychotics in your meals if they can't control you. They don't give a fuck about "rehabilitation" they just want to make money. Then, when you get out, you can't get a job so the only way to make money is illegally, which lands you back in jail, and the cycle repeats. That's why our recidivism is so high.
And that's without even mentioning the living conditions inside the prisons.
Try telling most Americans about this, and they just say "well they shouldn't have done something to wind up in prison in the first place"The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

My current job is the only job I've had that will hire felons, although I don't know if they were friends or family of the managers.
They do seem to have gotten lower pay than the rest of us, but that department is usually paid lower anyway so it might just be coincidence -

where i live there is currently a shortage of workers since most of the illegals have fled due to large numbers of 'trap-and-dont-release' operations by several law enforcement sources.
i was at a construction site a few days ago and several of the employees were sitting around smoking weed, in the open, with no attempt to hide it.
ive spoken with several owners of businesses that say they dont do background checks because they really dont care as long as the fuckers show up to work, do some work, and dont steal any of their shits. -

bill the shill is actually right about this.. its not that hard to be a felon and move yourself up if you use a lil work, like jill said even an illegal can do it.
theres plenty of jobs here in austin where you can be an illegal or have a checkered background and some of them definitiely arent the best jobs but some of them aren't that bad and can lead to more. Theres union jobs where all you have to be in a us citizen and can get hired and get benefits.
And theres always "city" jobs where you work on the roads here which I guess would be considered gnarly work but they get paid and they get benefits, but most of those guys can't live in the city and have to travel to town to work.

I was going to say that most americans realize that the prison system is more about economics than anything else but now it looks like Americans are coming out of the woodwork to disagree so uhh, I guess yeah, we're not the brightest lot. -

Most felons also aren't qualified for gainful employment. LOTS of felons working above min wage in restaurants, construction, and warehouses. There is good fortune to be had with those who get certs in prison. Just gotta keep looking. -
