Well, John the Baptist and many like him were vegitarians. He did not eat meat.
So people in the Church eat meat.
You didn't mention jedis and Muslims (who Arab Muslims were more likely the original jedis, Christians before converting to islam in 1600s.)
they have a sacred way to kill animals which is considered more humane.
Regardless if people are Christian, jedis, Muslims or athiest (or anything else) these guys who work in the meat business don't kill much of the animal humanely. they don't wait for the animal to die before cutting into it. they shoot or shock the animal (like cows) in the head, hang them by the back feet.. goes down an assembly line, and a guy takes a sharp knife and guts the cattle from utters to throat and all the intestants fall out. then they hide it, start picking parts off of it. Nothing is wasted. but the poor cattle are still alive. stunned but alive.
some people have been caught kicking chickens to death, or beating a baby calf. the belief is that fear chemicals in the animal cause it to supply the meat region through blood and this makes the animal taste better. so the animal refuses to die because it's having a fight or flight moment. causing adrenaline surging through the animals. same with chickens. they are more likely to die quicker, if calmed prior to having it's throat cut.

least they get stunned first. i'm pretty sure no predatory animals like lions, tigers, wolves etc stun the prey before ripping their teeth in and feasting on the animal.

i don't buy that farm animals causing global warming as an argument against eating meat. to produce enough grain and fruit/veg to feed the world uses a hell of a lot of machinary. machinary that works on power of some form that also produces a lot of CO2.
not that i buy the global warming bullshit either. but just saying that not eating meat is going to make a slightest bit of difference.

it is common knowledge among those who kill live animals for consumption that causing stress endorphins or adrenaline to be released by the animal causes the muscle (meat) to be a more unpleasant taste. -

I watched it on a documentary. something to do with nerves feeling less pain if cut in a certain way by pressing on a certain part of the neck and nostril area.. it's kind of like when a dentist has someone pinch your ear loab while pushing a syringe deep into your gums without applying lidocain externally first. It actually works, my dentist did it to me. Of course the dental assistants were cute and I felt goose bumps. :| -

I've heard both sides of this. It might be an old Wives Tale which cause people to do it to this day, yet it's done. People stomp on chickens and you see guys at the slaughter houses beating the crud out of little cows.
