BTW Lanny, what spurred this thread? Any thoughts/desires related to depression, suicide, antinatalism, or anything tangentially related or within that conceptual cluster? Just curious.
Also, antinatalism only deals with the creation of life, which it ascribes a negative value toward, not existing beings, so what the idea I have in mind goes beyond antinatalism. Somewhat related, there may actually be clear evidence that Benatar himself realized the implication of exactly what I and others want to address, the forcible end of all life, but circumvents due to being beyond the scope of his work and of course the gargantuan controversy it would evoke, antinatalism already being amongst the most controversial subjects in philosophy. He's also a self described libertarian, making him another member of the cool kids club, although, of course, you won't have a positive reception towards this.
