Oh oh!!! I totally forgot to mention Corpse Party Tortured Souls. That was a pretty good one as well as far as the horror genre is concerned.

I've never watched NGE. I try now and then and get a few episodes in but it never seems to be the transcendental experience people build it up to be so I stop. I guess I just need to power through it and make my judgment when I get to the end (ends give their stories meanings and NGE's defines its associated work more than most) but I always feel like I'm wasting something that by all accounts is supposed to be awesome.

Can anybody recommend me something good which isn't fighting based? I haven't been able to get into Monster much because the story is meh. Watched Silver Spoon for a bit but it was entirely too cutesy and schooly for my taste.

Did watch On Top of Poppy Hill or Up On Poppy Hill or whatever its called and holy shit, its fucking fantastic. I really am in love with the busy traffic/street scenes in that movie. Maybe one of my favorite Miyazaki films.

The Girl Who Lept Through Time was pretty good, has that Ghibli kind of pseudo-plot with more modern animation.

I really liked ZnT up to that chess scene at which point I was like "fuck this, dropped". I was watching a few other things that season though, probably should go back and watch the whole thing before making a judgment

I haven't actively watched anime in fucking years

However, I was last fond of Hellsing (the 13 episode original series)

I can't say the plot description really speaks to me but the talent attached caught my eye. I'm not really crazy about these shows that kinda try to split the difference between something plot driven and SoL (ala Oregairu). What did you think?

Oh i actually liked it a lot, i have yet to see the last episode because i didn't want it to be finished. I actually enjoy parts plot, parts SoL but the SoL bits are centered around getting to know the characters mostly so it serves its purpose. The plot is fairly decent, not mind blowing by a stretch but i enjoyed it. The art style is pretty cool too and it takes place in a steampunk world so that's just extra dope imho.
