    I've always thought of written signatures as security theater, kinda like TSA checkpoints at airports. They don't do anything meaningful as they're not a proper authenticity check, but they make people feel safer.

Like there's no general way to verify signatures, forgery is trivial, and most of the time they're not even considered (literally any scribbling on the signature field of a check will make it cashable). And we act like it really means something, you even have to sign some crap when using a credit card like that's how a credit card company is going to verify a transaction, not actuarial models or cryptographic verification.

    It's part of the trust system which showed how trusty our Banks were, especially in 2008
