typically they only bother asking if the purchase is over $500 or something, and as far as I know most people opt for using a PIN in that case anyway

EMV (chip and pin) is a lot more secure than swipe and sign, a lot of countries (although not the US) have shifted fraud liability to merchants on EMV transactions. Skimming is infeasible because the challenge/response nature of the algorithm. I think it's just an equipment thing at this point.

What did you do while ditching? Just curious?

The education system sure tends to do a great job of making people extremely resentful and ruining learning for them/conditioning them to disregard, devalue, or avoid it.

the whole education system is about conditioning you into a good little consuming sheep worker. some of us are smart enough to figure that out and reject it. then there are those who choose to sign up for more even after school leaving age, and somehow they convince themselves they are smart, lol.

And we act like it really means something, you even have to sign some crap when using a credit card like that's how a credit card company is going to verify a transaction, not actuarial models or cryptographic verification.

no, everytime you sign a piece of whatever part of your hand come into contact with it and leave behind pieces of DNA/s and a faint smell of semen.

Played an ungodly amount of Morrowind and a few other games, posted on totse, read books. Remembering it is kinda wierd, I think I was probably kinda depressed at the time but I also enjoyed it in a strange way. I'm not sure it was very productive on the whole but I learned how to enjoy being by myself, setting goals and working towards them without external motivation. More than I got out of school at least.

it is, thats what i mean. some mom and pop places have a different policy than your local valero, but for the most part its because the valero has a nice verifone card reader and the little shops have the dumb gay ones from office depot or some shit

Going to school doesn't preclude you from doing any of those things.

Should be both PIN/CHIP and signature. In this day and age, you can never be too careful.

just because you're in 3rd grade now doesn't mean that you can't practice better penmanship.

So you chose to spend time in jail, that was your own decision and it's just a coincidence the state would have also used violence to put and keep you there during the time you happened to want to be there?
