im on the last leg of the shadow of chernobyl campaign and yeah, its a good game once you download enough mods for it to even be playable. was at a point before i downloaded ZRP where the game would crash within minutes of launch, aside from the setting changes/new game crashes because of the fsgame.ltx file. i still get random crashes but they are spaced pretty far apart. that isnt as good as it sounds but after a few times of my game crashing after significant progress i learned how important saving often is. good thing i learned early on about the saving thing, i end up quickloading to get out of whirligig anomalies more than anything else now, lol...
just the crashes out of the equation would make this game way better overall, and if the bugs were fixed it would only bump it up even more. would love to see it get the metro 2033 treatment and have a remake with non-2007 graphics, along with fixing many of the other common complaints like gear repair, AI, and attachment incompatibility. from what ive read, call of pripyat is overall much better in that department.
i have SoC and clear sky on my steam library but its looking like im gonna pick up CoP once im done with those. the whole game is very reminiscent of metro in both atmosphere and experience, and i loved those games which probably explains my current love for stalker. definitely is one of the best games ive ever played, its been a fat ass minute since ive been immersed in a single player game like this. -
