    While it's true historically socialist-with-declared-intention-of-becoming-communist states have focused heavily on industrialized production (with impressive result at times) there is nothing inherent in Marxism that commits one to industrialization. Arguably the tribal mode of production largely conforms to Marxist ideals, albeit on a tremendously smaller scale than is typically envisioned.
