2017-06-25 at 3:56 AM UTCI could never get into anime no matter how hard I tried. Could someone recommend an anime for someone who really dislikes anime?

Originally posted by RestStop hmm, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Archer, Supernatural…those are probably my top 4.
Well, if you want a calm supernatural centered show, Mushishi is a good one. Think it like nature documentary meets ghosts. The ghosts aren't bad like in Supernatural though, they're just sort of... living. Just doing their own thing, surviving in what ways they know how. The protagonist more or less tries to help people find harmony with them. I watch this show when I'm stressed. Highly recommend it.
If you want a sort of antagonist's perspective like you get with Breaking Bad and the whole criminal mind games thing, try Death Note. Pretty highly acclaimed. It's about a guy who finds a notebook. When you write a name in this notebook, someone dies. He decides to use it to become, in his mind, a vigilante. There are all sorts of rules and stuff. Gets pretty edge of your seat too. Also highly recommend it.
Nothing really like Archer or the Sopranos which isn't also super anime-y. There's Gintima for a humor show but I honestly cannot fucking stand that shit. Maybe you'd like it. Lots of non-anime fans do.
Other than that, Miyazaki is always a safe bet. He's like the Japanese Disney. I recommend My Neighbor Totoro or Ponyo if you want something tamer and Howl's Moving castle or Spirited Away if you're looking for whimsical adventure.
Do not, under any circumstances, watch Grave of the Fireflies. -

Death Note definitely sounds cool. For some reason I already know that name..maybe its come on adult swim a time or two? IDK I'll check it though. -

For supernatural you could try the animated version of it, literally supernatural the animation, different voice actors though for at least some of it but I enjoyed it a lot

I was recommended this a while ago and it's honestly one of the better shows I've seen, the only downside being the lack of a sequel.
But anyway
Toradora
Tengen toppa gurren lagann
Code geass
Log horizon
One that anyone in this thread should watch is Desert Punk, it's pretty damn funny but goes a way you don't expect, about a bounty hunter in a post apocalyptic desert, watched some of it with myers a long time back. -

Code Geass
Death Note
Tokyo Ghoul
Tenjou Tenge
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan
Gosick
Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Kaikaku

As far as movies go i enjoyed:
Ninja Scroll
My Neighbour Totoro

I saw AnoHana as well and it was ok, the ending was a little overly dramatic though.
As a side note i downloaded Nichijou, i haven't seen it yet but it looks pretty dope. Noragami looks very dope as well and i think i will download it after i watch Nichijou. -
2017-07-30 at 2:09 AM UTCJust started Death Parade, like the art style a lot. Was worried it was going to turn into Jigoku Shojo which was incomparably boring but it's managing to hold my attention.
