Also, I noticed, when we' butcher hogs and use a .357, problem. Over the years lead has been phased out, and now they use pewter… for the "environment". Anyway, I have noticed that a lot of different types don't mushroom like they should, or partially mushroom, half-assedly. I think it has to do with the switch from lead to pewter.
Nothing like watching a 350lb hog run around with a point-blank gunshot wound going directly between the center of his eyes (Confirmed, came out his shoulder). Then what ensued was a 4 hour, chase the wounded pig around 7 acres trying to shoot him, then finally saying "hmmm, let him calm down and bleed out…", only going out to find fucker is still up and about to take more shots… it took 7 in total. 3 to the head (one at point-blank range), and 4 to the side/chest (killing blow hit his heart…fucking FINALLY!). That was some shit right there. Have it be known, he was being butchered because he ate a baby goat being born, by breaking in their pasture, so it's kinda ironic it ended this way for poor Blunderbust (pigs name, srs).
don't use a pistol for suicide. pistols do not compare to a rifle in effectiveness when killing yourself. definitely don't use a .45...they are too low-pressure. .357 is better, but not as good as a magnum rifle. the best option barring that is a 12ga, 3" shell (or larger...3 1/2") shotgun.
the way to do it is to take the muzzle into your mouth, 'aim' the muzzle so the path of the projectile goes through the top, back of your skull, then close your lips as tightly as possible. pull trigger.
what will happen is the expanding gasses from a shotgun or magnum rifle will literally blow your head off due to the 4,000 to 6,000 fps expanding gasses having nowhere to go. this won't work in a relatively speaking low-pressure, low-volume pistol round. the projectile (or projectiles in the case of a shotgun) will only cause secondary damage, if any, since they will be slower than the actual gasses.
there's no such thing as 'high caliber' anything...stop taking key words from the firearms-illiterate media tards.
it's 'blunderbuss' and they're currently illegal without a class III AOW permission slip. -

She can have Ash for company when I'm not around (I have plans to stop being a hiki/shutin soon) and I'll feed her the best grain free food, the cats here love it, it brings them all to the yard and makes them healthy. I'm very nice to cats, I've posted about the strays/ferals I feed and have gained the trust of around here. Only animals I really feel an affinity towards.

I don't buy that. I agree with a shotgun being the best firearm for suicide, but I don't think the expanding gases do much. If they were that powerful, wouldn't they simply stretch open your lips and cheeks, even blow/tear the skin open as much as possible? It's the path of least resistance. There is of course simultaneously damage being done to the skull cavity, but you stated the gas was faster than the pellets, and it should take the path of least resistance.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

shotgun isn't the best option because it is a low pressure deflagration rate (about 12,000psi or so) compared to a magnum rifle with chamber pressures measured in 60,000psi...give or take 20,000psi or so. still, a shotgun is better than a pistol due to the higher volume of combustion gasses compared to the lower volume, higher velocity combustion gasses of most pistols. (.45 can use the same propellant as shotguns)
yes...the expanding gasses will follow the path of least resistance. and the path of least resistance will be created by the expanding gasses that have right-of-way considering the strongest human skull cannot compete with the pressure requirements of the combustion gasses.
pneumatics/hydraulics is too complicated to explain in a post...so go web-search 'water hammer.' what i mentioned is related tp this. want an example of the power of expanding gasses? a few years ago a small leak developed in pressurized commercial aircraft. small, small leak. somehow an object obstructed the leak and the entire aircraft exploded. reason being...yes, the in-motion gasses followed the path of least resistance: the path THEY chose. virtually every molecule of the air within the cabin was in motion at something like 12psi...TWELVE psi...then something obstructed their linear travel...and the molecules couldn't instantaneously lose their velocity so they kept it...and followed the path of least resistance.
same thing happens with pulling the trigger on a gun and the combustion gasses needing to go somewhere. yes...some will find a path out of the lips...blown sinuses...but that's not sufficient for the velocity/volume...so the skull yields and a cleanup crew is vacuuming up grey matter from the ceiling and walls -
