   It was a land line number attached to the house and the housephone could detach, it looked like one of the early Nokia mobiles. I wonder if every landline can get texts and people don't know bcus they don't have the right phone.

   It REQUIRES an analog phone line also referred to as "plain old telephone" or POTS. I think text/phone networks are all on POTS but there are many ways to convert the telephone signal into digital for computers. But with fax specifically there is no such system so it's stuck in an island where pretty much anything can "talk" to a computer except a fax machine because it NEEDS a phone number. Even the software for virtual fax requires a phone number
   
   
   And if you start digging into stuff like HOW DO YOU "generate" a phone number you realize the entire system is corrupt and rotten to the core. The biggest scam in history.

   something to do with older pbx boxes that allowed deaf or mute people to communicate. i think thats how it worked. the magic-jack was a pbx built in and allowed people to spoof phone numbers . it was basicly allowing people going on business trips to unplug a hotel lin, plug it in and make free calls at the Hotel because hotels charge a fuckload to make calls
