   that's the point, offensive weapons always advance faster than defensive ones so a single $10 billion ship is a huge liability. they're primarily for bullying countries that have no way to fight back. a peer or near peer is going to be able to saturate AA/AD (using hypersonics and/or modern ASBMs) and kill the carrier for a fraction of its cost.
   
   I suspect China is building them primarily as a symbol of prestige to show that they're part of the Big Boys Club rather than any practical purpose.
