israel has been using a push on Rafah as a threat to try to force Hamas into accepting their terms. at the last moment, Hamas modified the terms of the ceasefire to include complete withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza and claimed they'd 'accepted' the agreement even though it'd been changed to terms that israel refused. neither side is willing to accept the conditions of the other, but both are trying to appear as 'peacemakers' and paint the other as refusing peaceful settlement.
as it stands the IDF has pushed into Rafah with a relatively small force, creating a corridor to the border crossing itself as well as supporting it with heavy bombing runs. it remains to be seen whether they can or will mount a large-scale offensive. -

I've posted multiple times before I don't think they have the manpower for a full operation, as well as the risk of Egypt getting involved (even though Sisi is a cuck the population unanimously supports Palestine).
I think they're trying to force Hamas into concessions but I have no idea what they'll try if they don't get them. -
