It's a lot less popular in reformed traditions and is more of a staple of traditional Lutheran, Anglican, Catholic. The "old school" type Christianity

But the most popular lutheran denominations in the USA aren't confessional, it varies.

but usually the people that believe that the wine and bread are REALLY THE REAL BODY AND BLOOD OF JESUS are the ones that do confession. The subtle differences in all the beliefs I think gives an idea to how fractured christians are as a whole but I mean there are over a billion catholics
