I forgot, in American military bases no one is allowed to carry guns and the ammo is all locked up. I heard about this previously when there was a mass shooting on a military base, and all the soldiers were running and hiding from the shooter.
But surely being in the military you can steam something?
What do they even do?

I carried a 45 on some watches but people not running around armed. Don't know about the modern pussified military but in my time in port most fuckers half drunk, probably not a good ideal letting young drunk men going around armed.

Guns are carried when the duty requires it. They're kept locked in an armory when not in use and literally each bullet is (supposedly) accounted for.
Some commands have their 'own' guns which are 100% controlled by one individual who delegates who has possession of them. When not in someone's direct, active, possession they are locked in a vault or safe.
