those are usually alert locations considering the HAM BROS can't really confirm hits and israel generally won't
all in all the actual hits are usual in single digits (given a rocket flying over multiple areas will set all of them off, and the Iron Dome will take care of at least some of them), but what's really amusing about it is they keep getting launched from areas that the IDF claims it's cleared.

reminds me, a fun trick the Iraqi militias liked to play before this kicked off was to fire small mortars OVER the US embassy, specifically to trip the alarms and lock the embassy down for six hours or so to send everyone to the bunker, do their headcounts and inspections, then send them all back.

the persians just deployed one of their warships into the red sea.
i have no idea what they could be thinking, considering this is one of their most 'powerful' warships...yet it is about equivalent to an armed tugboat considering its armaments and sensor capabilities. its biggest...only...threat to the US fleet is its anti-ship missiles, which are copies of chinee missiles, which were copies of a french missile.
im curious what US asset is glued to it...drone...sub...aircraft...i guarantee this thing has more probing being done to it than elliot when he was in the closet with ET dressed in drag.

I think it's mostly just for surveillance; US has claimed in the past that they're feeding shipping information to the Houthis.
Iran's navy has always been centred around small attack craft with big missiles so I don't really know what their doctrine is with the more traditional ships

based on their historical tactics, their doctrine seems to be to use their surface ships as target practice for opposing forces...as per their decimation to the US navy in the 80s.
i dont know what their current techniques are, but in the 90s they used their KILO subs as surface ships since they were literally scared to submerge them

that was a bit of a trend with the Arabs (and I guess Persians), they got Soviet weapons which are effective on paper but didn't bother actually listening to how they were supposed to use them
I remember reading one of the big reasons the Syrians ate israeli air power was because even though they had then-modern SAMs they treated BUKs and the like as static defences and didn't move them or use decoys for months at a time, as well as stationing them in valleys rather than on higher elevation where the radars were more effective because it was easier to dig latrines there

it has to do with their religious belief in 'aloha whackbar'...we used it against them during the gulf war and subsequent ones. they believed rather emphatically that their invisible friend in the sky was going to do all the work to save them in a war and all they had to do was pretty much show up.
one time they launched an SA-5 at us and it missed by...like...a hundred miles. according to what we think happened, they picked up one of our planes at long range with a 'normal' air search radar and launched 'blind'...without the associated tracking radar for the missile. so the missile flew in a straight course totally unguided. we think because they were scared of an anti-radiation missile taking out their missile-associated radars so they decided to aloha whackbar a launch. apparently aloha was napping at the time.
