thats another aspect of the bible that makes it a work of fiction. the bible was written in hebrew and aramaic...then greek. when 'they' translated the bible from whatever language it was to english they were absolutely unconcerned with the writers intended meaning and wholly concerned with how they wanted it to read. hell...even in the original languages there is evidence that when scribes copied the same language into the same language there were discrepancies.
one famous one is 'witch'...there was never any such thing as a 'witch' in greek. the saying was something more accurately defined as 'someone who uses magic to do things that hurt other people'...without getting into a long drawn out explanation that 'magic' in those days was as commonplace and widely practiced as in modern times going to a doctor for fixing medical problems.
there are countless examples of selective translations and a contributor to why i repeatedly say the bible is fiction -

Absolutely true. The vast majority of the bibles out there have been heavily edited for political purposes. But if you read the original scrolls and translate them yourself, like I did, you get a very accurate understanding of the truths contained therein. -
