Last night when they were leaving I asked if the piping they did on the outside of my house was sturdy and expressed my concern about how much it moves when I shake it.
They said it was good and that they will paint it so it's pretty too.
After that ai made this thread and went to bed.
This morning it was clear that it wasn't just another one of my false outrages as you all agreed it looks terrible.
Just to make sure though, I texted a picture of it to someone at the gas company and they said "it doesn't look good".
Anyways they are supposedly going to have it look less shitty by the time I get home.
And the people yesterday insisted on relighting my water heater which I was like "okay" but I'm pretty sure they broke the igniter on it seeing as how it looks them 30 minutes to get it lit...

It does look like ass but it's technically acceptable and would have passed an inspector inspection. Don't worry too much about it moving (within reason)...it's supposed to be somewhat flexible.

They have to 'paint' it...that keeps it from corroding.

Tell them to add a debris trap as a 'tee' instead of that 90'

For extra credit they can bury the pipe then have it come up against the house and strapped down against the house for support

Do you have a dirt-leg by your meter? Never noticed one there, seems redundant. Where I'm from it's the norm to have them at each appliance.

Unnecessary underground fuel gas piping is not optimal, buried metallic piping is subject to corrosion/rust where you will not be able to monitor it's condition , plastic is prone to damage/puncture during digging, and that area is probably going to see digging at some point for fixing or replacing the drainage piping.

Anything to make this optimal will cost more than KENAN wants to spend, so I honesty think he should complain on NextDoor and go talk shit to the workers who come to fix his crookedy BIG WHYTE PIPR and paint the gas meter like PEPPR THE PIGG in protest

And a big mural on the back glass of his car that says "I GOT FUCKED BY OHIO GAS"

They're called debris traps where I am and they're not required by code but the cool kids all install them and all the amateurs don't. The more on a line the merrier...one tiny sliver of debris in a gas orifice ruins everything.

Despite the drawbacks to burying, which all can be alleviated, the benefit of protection outweigh them all. And esthetics is the least of them. (Was at a house one time where a ride-on lawnmower ripped a gas meter out of the connection. That was fun. The gas company got there before the cops and FD)

The professionals use thick-wall copper tubing rated for underground burial.

I texted a picture of the shotty workmanship to the gas company and they called the people that did the work and made them come fix it.
They also said if I still don't like it to call them back and they'll reroute it again.

When I got home the workers were waiting on me.
I wandered around back and looked at the work and said "that looks a lot better".
The guy was a bit annoyed and said "you could have just said you didn't like it yesterday".
I told him that I questioned him yesterday if that was how it should look and that he said yes and all I did was get another opinion.
I told him I posted the work online and that everyone said it looked like shit and I also sent a picture to the gas company who also said it looked like shit.
I don't understand people getting upset for being called out when they do shit jobs.
If you wouldn't do your own house like that don't do mine.

i'm gonna go there and fuck it up even worse just you wait i'll take a large hammer andleft to right

first id smash up your stupid metal basement window coverers you probably use to block the sun while you molest your wifes husbands boyfriends children, then I would fuck up your gas meter and slowly go along the pipe and smash all those up, Grab the drain gutter and rip it down, smash up that black tube.

then I would go around the base of the house where that pipe comes out and just smash it up where all that shit comes out until its rubble. I
'''d smash that large white thing , maybe put a few holes in the fence before dousing it in fuel and using the leafs to light it up. Then I would smash up your dirt patch of a lawn with the same hammer

post ur address and send me $20 ill fix u up nicely

just use a feelter if your concerned about debris. a tee is not an efficient debris trap espexially when you use a single burner where the gas flow is slow theres just not enough kinetic energy to fling the debris into the dead nd of the tee.

its one of those irrational myth that godless heathens choose to believe as an alternative to faith in gods.

you really should stop making posts about things you know nothing about.

the debris trap isnt designed to be anything...its a zero effort zero cost addendum to a plumbing line that has zero cons to its use and all positives

efficient filtration will be at the actual appliance

if a 'tee' replaced that 90' the gas would be flowing downwards using both line pressure and gravity. the inertia of debris would exponentially exceed that of the gas and continue downward into a dead end, becoming 'trapped' in the debris trap instead of continuing through the lines and ultimately into an orifice, potentially clogging it.

i know for a fact they work. i disassemble them all the time and find mostly 'rust' corrosion flaked off from the internals of the galvanized pipe.

if you ever want to ruin someones yard forever just hide a bunch of mint around their yard after dark one day they will find it and rip it up but it will be too late

I still pass by some mint spots I hit and they become a massive bush after a year or two
