Why not? Because humans don't? They absolutely do. People abandon babies in dumpsters, disown their kids, kick them out at 18. It's only if you're absolutely lucky that you start off living with your parents, and then they support you from afar after some number of years have passed. And that's just assuming we're something so noble as offspring. If you're drunk and stumbling home from the bar at 2am and you puke on the side of the road do you sit around to nurture it?
