I feel real bad for this guy.
1. imagine stepping on a land mine and losing a leg
2. then someone gives you a shirt that says WRONG STEP on it
3. you wake up from surgery, still half out of it on anaesthetic to find your stump on a woman's lap, but there's something off about her that you can't put your finger on
4. and you keep feeling this weird poking sensation in the side of your leg

Kilgore was someone who enjoyed the war and was bumed out by the idea that the war would end. And you could tell nothing would happen to him either.
Sarah will be lost without this war. At the tender young age of 46 she's come of age and flowered into a beautiful trans demon of death.

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I wouldn't like to roll out of my bunk and see the guy next to me trying to decide which makeup or nail polish doesn't clash with his camo.
