for a viewport like this it would be logical to install it from the outside in so that when it goes underwater the water pressure will push it in to produce an even tighter seal pretty much like how cornerstones are laid.
if it was the viewport that failed the rest of the sub wouldnt have imploded because the water would have gone in thru the viewport and pressure would be equalize in a split second, leaving the rest of the sub intact.
just simple logic ma'am. -

If a crack in the view port were letting in a narrow little piss stream of water, that piss stream would have been a deadly laser. Really high pressure environment. Pressure (if it equalized in a split second) would equalize to 5000 PSI, which would have exerted tremendous forces on the materials the sub was constructed from. Whether the briny deep squeezed it to death or water found some way in that *didn't* somehow also result in a catastrophic implosion, it'd be completely shitfucked as a result. -

thats not how equillibrium works.
if the porthole cracked and/or broke water would have gushed in and raising the pressure inside, which has hitherto remain a vaccum (relatively speaking) and slowly or rapidly raising the pressure to the point the pressure on the inside is as high on the outside.
the sub isnt an aircraft, the pressure on the inside is much lower than the outside. -

If the viewport blew out due to implosion of the main body...the viewport still failed...duh. -

2023-06-30 at 1:56 PM UTCWe need to put Vinny in a shoddy bathysphere and drop him down 20,000 leagues with a live feed so we can see what really happens.
