2023-06-20 at 12:30 PM UTCShepards pie and chips is pukka, its got to be done right though.
Oil drained from the mince etc etc -
2023-06-20 at 12:43 PM UTCI had one of these a couple of weeks ago...vegetarian Shepherd's pie...I bought it accidentally not knowing it was fake meat...to be honest though it was fucking good and if I hadn't know it was fake meat I'd have thought it was the real thing.

2023-06-20 at 1:18 PM UTCI've never made it, only had my mum's which I haven't had in years. I tried to pay her to make me it when I was 19 and struggling to feed myself, I'd get kimchi from the Chinese five days a week.

2 onions diced
carrots, peas, green beans corn…(re: use a bag of mixed veg)
Parsley, thyme, Rosemary, garlic (qty determined by your taste)
2-4 Tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and/or soy sauce
1 cup Beef/chicken/veg broth (YOU DECIDE)
salt+pepper
Grated cheese
Butter for the mashed taters
Boil, mash add butter and some of the garlic to the taters.
Brown the meat, slightly brown the onions
mix meat, onions, veggies, herbs, liquids together.
slop the mix into a suitably sized pan
Cover with the mashed taterines
Cook for about 30mins at 400f…add grated cheese if you want about 10 mins before ready…or if like me you are not eating it all at once, you can add the cheese later when warming it up.
When I’ve made shepherds pie I cook and mash potatoes with butter and cream cheese.
I brown ground beef with Lipton onion soup mix then pour off any grease
I layer the cooked ground beef on the bottom, cover that with either sliced cheddar cheese or shredded cheddar cheese
Add corn, both sweet caned corn and creamed corn
Then cover the whole thing with the mashed potatoes
I bake this for about 20-30 minutes at like 350
Let it sit for a bit then serve
It’s delicious especially with Piccalilli -
