Maybe we can condense people onto some 1d line and say people beyond X point have an extrema disorder but you can't say everyone has X disorder. It seems to challenge the very notion of disorder.

How will it help you? If you're genuinely intelligent you should be able to come up with multiple responses for this. It could explain your affinity toward alcohol and benzos, multiple other things. As I said before, it's important for self-quantification, understanding yourself, life/past, and how you interact with the world.
Bro, I know what my own personality is. I don't need a score out of 50 from an online autism test in order to introspect. I'd love to be able to chalk up my failures of character to autism but I don't have any reason to, I can't. I drink because I like alcohol, the taste, the effect. I'm an awkward bastard because I played too many video games as a kid and was probably undersocialized. It's like you've spent so long obsessed with the single medical condition you've lost the ability to realize human beings are formed from more than special-snowflake amalgams of neurological disorders. -

For some people with severe or hard-to-treat depression, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is the best treatment. This treatment, sometimes referred to as "electroshock therapy," is often misunderstood and incorrectly portrayed by popular media as a harsh, cruel treatment. In reality, it is a painless medical procedure performed under general anesthesia that is considered one of the most effective treatments for severe depression. It can be lifesaving.

I don't really think being on a 'spectrum' negates the condition being a 'disorder'; the disorder is largely defined by the symptoms and everyone on the spectrum will have the same combination of symptoms to varying degrees. In terms of parkinsons, a mild tremor is as much parkinsons as full-on michael j fox on maracas.
I try not to use the term disorder for autism for that reason though - it's really only diagnosed based on symptoms, we don't know underlying causes or even the exact mechanism that causes it to manifest. At what point does odd or abnormal behaviour become a disorder? Many people are likely mildly autistic and don't even know it, never having been diagnosed. -
2017-05-18 at 5:53 AM UTCjesus fucking christ.
some people are nice. some people are stupid. some people are fast. some people are autistic. there's no condition. there's no spectrum more than there is for anything else. there's no diagnosis between identifying a persons personality. there's no abnormality besides the fact that people are different. nobody knows what they fucking are.

you literally just took the part of my post talking about how it's difficult to diagnose because all we have are symptoms at the moment and rode it off into the sunset of AUTISM NOT REAL! -

as a discrete, diagnosable set of symptoms or abnormal traits, yes. just because we don't currently understand what causes it doesn't mean it's a standard, natural deviation like intelligence or personality.
The fact that severe autism stops a person from functioning day-to-day without assistance should be enough of an indicator. -

LANNY, JUST TAKE THE FUCKING DRUGS, THEY'RE GOOD FOR YOU!!!
I MEAN JUST TAKE THE FUCKING TEST AND STOP MAKING EXCUSES!!!!
MOTHER OF FUUUUUUUUCK, I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL TRACK YOU DOWN IRL AND FORCE YOU TO TAKE IT. JUST TAKE IT AND DO IT SERIOUSLY, PM ME THE RESULTS AND I WILL NEVER TELL ANYONE IF THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES!
I swear to fucking god, you are acting just like a smartass spoiled brat that keeps coming up with bullshit excuses for why he won't eat his vegetables when it isn't even that big of a fucking deal. Are you honestly so unaware that you don't realize how this makes others perceive you or are you just fucking with me? Because if it's the latter, at some point please be satiated and just take.the.fucking.test. -
