German state broadcaster ARD, SWR radio and Die Zeit newspaper launched what they called their own joint journalistic investigation into the activities of German law enforcement authorities involved in this case.
Their findings indicate the yacht set sail from the German northeastern port city of Rostock on September 6, having received explosives and equipment for the operation a from a delivery truck. The yacht was later identified on the Danish island of Christianso, located just north-east of the island of Bornholm, where the pipelines were damaged on September 26, 2022.

They were, right out of the gate.
Anyone with more than a couple of neurons firing immediately had a problem with blaming Russia for it because there is zero benefit to them. A large section of modern society is so infantilised by the culture and media that they cannot see things as any more nuanced than 'good guys' and 'bad guys' (and the good guys would never do a thing like this), but people in Germany and the EU have to reconcile this with the fact that whoever did it effectively deindustrialised them, shutting down their entire heavy industry and shipping it across the Atlantic.
For people not directly affected it's an academic question where the answer doesn't really matter that much; for Germany it's a direct attack on their economy, industrial base and subsequent quality of life that people need to look at very seriously.
Now that Seymour Hersh has come out with what he claims to be the real story, they NEED a concrete scapegoat, not just vague accusations in order to try to salvage relations - Hersh has been right about all of the major stories he's written as far as I know, all of them initially denied by the US government and later grudgingly admitted.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -
