At NO point in history would Ukraine have ever been able to fend off Russia in a conventional war, this would've ended rapidly and like lava crossing a plane Russia would've swept through Kyiv, spent six months sweeping up hold over rebels and saboteurs, mass rape, and do the USSR people shuffle, and it would've been over.
Instead LOL you have some country that pretty much could've be farther away logistically, funding everything under the veneer of "It's not like that." by our stuttering evidently not that moronic president -

I don't think the funding/weapons reached them until they'd already fended off the attack on Kiev. -

the US has been arming them since 2014; even Merkel recently came out and said they never actually had any intention of holding to the agreements they signed and that it was just a ploy to buy time to build up the military -

Well they've been arming a few places..I don't think that was the intent of Bradders point. The INCREASED support didn't happen till after they fended them off...but of course that was mainly Russias fault for having shitt supply lines.
Had Russia been well equipped kiev would have been toast?

nothing wrong with their logistics, not to any degree that undermined the operation anyway.
we probably won't know for sure until it's all over, but my guess is they underestimated how much resistance had been built up over the previous eight years, mostly in terms of how the paramilitaries (volunteer battalions, special units) had been interlinked with local governance.
they tried to rapidly push through and flip as many regions as they could, but didn't prepare for any sort of occupation so in the early days, even the cities and regions that were friendly to them quickly flipped back as soon as they left. it wasn't until a few months in that they started bringing in their own regional administrators to stabilise the occupied territories.
in terms of Kiev, they didn't even enter or fire on the city proper, just locked up the airport and forced the government to bomb its own bridges and transport arteries to try to prevent an attack that didn't eventuate -
