ETA: We kept a bucket inside during the winter for pissing in at night rather than going to the outhouse, my dad would just piss out of the top bedroom window though so there was a permanent piss stain down the front wall of the house. -

I believe that is what is known as a "high cost to acquire customer" but because it's forced upon us through taxes and voting for people that pass random shit we didn't specifically agree too, it doesn't have to be profitable. They can run a failed idea into the ground for decades until they need to "cut spending"

all he's saying is that Musk represents the old-world 'entrepreneurs' who care about efficiency and productivity making a comeback against the new 'social professionals' who want the workplace to feel like a 'home' and care about gay shit like diversity and inclusivity.
if he can openly show that the company is doing better after kicking them all out it might be a turning point for the 'tech' industry in general (though I personally doubt it).

i remember working at a startup like this. it was a culture shock, i fucking hated it. it creeped me the fuck out. like sofas, playstation, most people in visually offensive shirts, and the most superficial interactions in appropriately sanctioned phrasing.
i still get a visceral reaction just thinking about it. their product was fucking shit because they made the most obviously absurd design decisions that were borderline sabotage. it was cringe watching them trying to demo this product that broke for the simplest reasons that they were too invested in to fix.
