I was homeless once. I was one of the nice ones if I wasn't drinking heavily, not so nice once I got into my second 12-pack

I'm thankful for the experience; now i don't feel bad for not giving money to people with signs. Never give money to anyone holding a sign unless they're missing limbs or something. All the people I've met that did this were either not homeless or worthless and going to spend your money on drugs.

when I was homeless people would give me money even though I wasn't pan handling. One day I was just sitting in the shade up against a fence waiting for the bus to go to work and some really nice lady stopped and asked if I needed a ride and I accepted, she drove me to work and gave me 20 bucks. It was cool.

then later that week I got off work and went to the homeless shelter to eat but they wouldn't let me have any food because I missed chow time by a few minutes and I was explaining to them that I just got off work.. but they weren't trying to hear it, so I went to 6th street for a walk and just sat down outside of some bar and a lady was like "omg where r u parentz?!" and she gave me 10 bucks.

Then one day on my day off I was just walking around downtown, went into a porn shop to kill some time and get out of the heat and I walked and some older sandusky whyte male followed me out and asked If I was doing alright and I told him I was fine, he asked if I wanted to go get something to eat so I told him "sure" he asked me to pick a restaurant so I picked my favorite restaurant by the lake "the county line" and ate pork ribs with mashed potatoes and coleslaw with a shiner bock.

We went back downtown to his hotel and were drinking brews and he put on some porn and I started feeling really uncomfortable (i was kinda naive to the perviness of older gay weak whyytes like bill the cat) and text my friend to come pick me up and we went and smoked at his house and I stayed over there for the night.

I guess thats the advantage of being a cute 18 year old boy lololol

Umm, no, it's not. Let's assume there were no regulations and I just wanted to become a slumlord, build tiny shacks out of plywood, insulation, and weatherproofing. Just the cheapest imaginable. There are a lot of proposals for ultra low cost housing.

It doesn't matter if you don't like it, that those conditions are shitty and awful, and no one should have to live in them. Ultimately, it's still shelter, some privacy, and protection from the elements.

Homelessness is a state issue, period. It's an inevitable product of the power of political authority. And of course mental illness if completely ignored, even in Marxist society it wouldn't eliminate it and there would be people who would refuse to live medication and choose to be homeless, for whatever reason. Look at all the gutter punk street kids around SF and Berkeley.

You know that Marx literally wrote The Communist Manifesto even before The Origin of Species was produced, right? Of course there's Das Kapital and modern literature, but there's a good reason why virtually no major economist (If you claim bias I hope you realize how incredibly hypocritical you'd be, considering your prior complaints towards me.) takes Marx seriously anymore.

Serious question: I know you're going through your youthful intellectually rebellious phase where subconsciously you want to develop a certain image of yourself, but you have attempted to be rational and at least read a book on criticisms of Marxist ideology/economics, right?

the problem isn't homelessness, the problem is peoples expectations that a person have a home and smell nice. homelessness isn't a problem.

Lol, yeah, the state can solve homelessness by executing every homeless person on sight without trial.

It doesn't matter if you don't like it, if it's entirely unjust, ultimately it still means no homeless people durrrrr.

You'll notice that at no point have I mentioned Marxism or communism, so I'm not going to spend time trying to defend those positions to you.

I have always felt significant compassion for the homeless. On another note, my town has one famous homeless man who set up a tent in the downtown area and lived there for years in protest of the city government. He used to harass councilmen by chasing them around city hall and calling them incessantly until they finally made a law specifically outlawing his occupation on the sidewalk, which forced him to move several blocks over to where he wouldn't be such a nuisance. I'm friends with him on Facebook.

Was the entire "Protest" a ploy device to have 3 years of free rent? it gave him an umbrella of security to pretend he had legit issues when all he was doing was putting on a show knowing that it would look bad politically to strike against the homeless man in any form.

I don't try and give money to homeless anymore. If I'm walking into a store, I buy an orange juice and maybe a muffin and hand it to one. I might fill a bag of food and hand it to the corner guy with the sign. they usually collect it and bring it to a homeless encampment. But when the encampments get bigger, they attract people who are really messed up on drug or drunk as hell.

obviously a ploy but you got to hand it to the guy for being crafty. here in austin we have a gay redneck named "leslie" who is homeless but people with expensive houses on the lake and around town let him "house-sit" while they are gone because they know he can be trusted
