    the fact that you put so much value on your appearance contradicts the core feminist ideal that a woman's appearance is not a source of her value. there's really nothing more to it than that. if you were serious in arguing against it as opposed to just trying to change the subject, you could argue that you're not obsessed with your appearance (you can't), that whatever version of feminism you ascribe to doesn't reject appearance as a source of value or that you have other value that you're not as interested in constantly talking about for whatever reason.
    
    what I was writing about is that the outward appearance you project is essentially a feedback loop - you design it in order to present a certain image of yourself, you (consciously or unconsciously) receive feedback from those around you and adjust accordingly. society is a heirarchy and a constant challenge, and controlling your appearance is just another way of trying to change your standing.

    
    This was actually really interesting. Now I know why I say I feel more powerful as a blonde. It's porbably because I subconsciously feel I'm respected and welcomed into an elevated position in society because I look more white than I am. Systemic racism y'all... I guess my days as a blonde are numbered.
