From June,
https://archive.ph/jiiazThe International Energy Agency has warned that Europe must prepare immediately for the complete severance of Russian gas exports this winter, urging governments to take measures to cut demand and keep ageing nuclear power stations open.

“Russia has lost a good client, and forever."

They wanted to make it impossible for Germany to negotiate, just like they made it impossible for the Ukraine to negotiate.
A large part of this whole ordeal is to remove Russia from the Western European energy market and destroy any hope of political/economic ties as per the famous goal of 'keeping the US in, Russia out and Germany down' but these measures have become so extreme that I can't imagine the EU surviving - how does the government justify this to its people in a way that doesn't result in them hanging from streetlights?
Maybe that was the goal all along -

2022-09-30 at 8:17 AM UTCWell pipelines or not, we have 400 billion cubic tons of gas sitting in the northern provinces, infrastructure ready to be scaled up. We have increased our strategic gas reserves, and there are multiple deals in the works with other gas producing countries. Nord Stream can suck my dick, we, of all the EU got some gas to spare.

being able to deal with your emotions without resorting to violence is a strength, not a weakness. you can be assertive without being aggressive. ego and pride are stupefying traits.
it's not like europeans are short on aggressiveness. historically they probably got the most warring and destructive tribes ever. they owe their last 75 years of peace to the US. if they stop yielding to the US, it'll be a shit show for them. -

I'm not a petrochemical engineer, but they can do it pretty fast. Like i said though, we have three fall backs. Gas in our own soil, strategic reserves, and new import deals for any short comings. Germany is in trouble. France has Nuclear. I mean we got two nuclear powerplants as well, although i would prefer it if we had 10. -
