Home security...when I move in a couple of months it's in the middle of nowhere and very dark... so I want a shotgun for blasting midnight intruders...better than a handgun.

    not for inside ur house

No. A shotgun is better in close range... a slug will take a persons head off whereas a bullet will just pass through it, also "shot" will give you a wider spread and more chance of hitting someone in a dark /close range environment...point in the general direction and shoot.

    No.

    Same reasons as above

ETA: also you don't want a bullet continuing to travel into your neighbors or the street and killing someone else.

imho handguns are better because they are faster to point at a target, shoot amd reload than a shotgun.
