Oh, thank god, Bella's alive. I hadn't seen in her a few days and was worried. A few days ago I was feeding little guy, her son, and I heard what sounded like a cat fighting a dog over the fence to the right and saw him run off in that direction. Feral cats form packs and protect each other. Or maybe it was a relative of his. There was also a time where I saw her before that walking off along a path where she may have crossed the road and heard a car hit something small (sensory hypersensitivity). Worried it may have been her, but I didn't want to check because I knew it would bother be too much if she had died in this state and I told myself I would just assume she had found a new home, or gotten lost or something. Dammit, that was really selfish, even if she had been hit she could still have been taken to a vet, but I wouldn't be able to afford it, and as a stray she probably wouldn't have survived with a injury afterward.

Bad news, was trying to call Ash, and checked around, and saw Bella around the corner of my place under the neighbor's car with a kitten that looks a few weeks old. Fuuuuuuck, Bella had another baby. I didn't think it would happen so soon. I think the father may have been this really beta/dominant (although not in an aggressive way, more regal, like a warrior-king) black tomcat I saw around the area. She may have 2 or 3 other babies around the area.

She used to come with little guy, but some time ago I noticed they started coming separately. He must have been weaned and is living on his own now, although they still seem friendly toward each other.

Bella's gotten pretty accustomed to me. There are some programs where you can rent a humane trap and take them to get spayed or neutered, but you have to put down a deposit and pay for the procedure, which I can't afford right now. Going to ask in r/asksf if anyone knows of any free programs that can assist me.

Feral cats live pretty poor and dangerous lives, they tend to die young. Although fortunately the weather in the bay area is nice and there are a fair amount of people that leave out food for them out of the kindness of their hearts.

Bella is a really pretty cat, and I think she's only semi-feral due to her behavior. She never seemed as afraid as a fully feral cat that had never been acclimatized to people during the critical period as a kitten. I'm sure she could easily find a good home.

New pics of her and little guy. Bella has a really nice fluffy tail, which is most apparent when she's standing, and the different coloration is so kawaii:

Hey, if I ever end up dying, one of you better track them down and take care of my cats. Maybe I'll use a deadman's switch program I came across that automatically sends a message after a certain time if you don't respond to an email within a certain period.

This is something to live for. No it's not stupid either. SRS here brahs. Before my gf left me I gave her son a small kitten for his 2nd Bday(I'm lame I know) anyways my slut crack whore of a gf either lost it or let it out on accident or something and eventually the little guy would go into fits of crying saying "kitty, kitty" and literally it broke my heart to pieces and I just wanted to find that damn cat and put it back in his arms that cat was his heart and damn that slut bitch whore for losing little dudes kitty.

.That's sorts weird to think about. What if they did??

There are 4 kids of mine out there from mom's that I'll never remember.

    Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!

    :doge¢oin:

Dammit guys, spay and neuter yourselves.

Do you know what the life outcomes of children without fathers are, what the lives of the women are like? Ultimately it's the woman's fault for making that incredibly stupid and selfish decision, but you have to see them as inherently, profoundly, flawed beings that tend to have a much lower propensity for reason, much poorer control of their emotions (both of these have been confirmed by studies, regardless of whether the cause is cultural or biological), and the drive to have children and nurture them is just the strongest drive that evolution produced in them.

Think about how it fits into evolutionary theory, why wouldn't this have evolved? Reality is reality whether you like it or not.

For the love of god get a vasectomy. If you have insurance, it probably covers it, if you live outside the US, it's probably free and easy to get, even if you're poor, there are programs and it's not that expensive to save up for. It's a very simple procedure, many places don't even use scalpels anymore and it's pain free, and you never have to worry again.

It's part of our evolution to be unsure of whether we want to have children one day and to feel this intense fear about damage to our genitals (we evolved to spread our selfish genes), but you have to tell yourself it's irrational. It's safe, they give you valium beforehand to erase any anxiety, and it literally only takes about 15 minutes from start to finish nowadays.

I'm going to get a vasectomy as soon as possible, although I want to deal with severe depression and these other issues first to make it easier. Having children is literally the worst thing you will likely ever do, unless you murder someone and go to prison (and from a the viewpoint of anti-natalism I'd argue that, ethically, what you did still wouldn't be as bad, although few people will understand this).

Think about people's lives are destroyed/ruined by having children and then they're trapped in this miserable lifestyle trying to convince/delude themselves into believing they're happy so they won't go insane. And it's not just 18 years, you're really responsible for that life for as long as you live. You can do everything right and they can still turn out as some of the worst people.

Think about the risk of autism and other disorders, the chance of your child having something serious isn't all that low, and imagine what an incredible burden it will be. You'd have to take care of this unbelievably difficult to manage burden that's in a state of constant intense suffering for the rest of your life and live with the guilt that you're responsible for that, you created them for no other reason than your own selfishness or irresponsibility.

Don't have kids. No matter what anyone else tells you, they're deluding themselves. Look into the research children have on happiness yourself and think of the cost.

THE CREATION OF LIFE, NOT EVEN ONCE.

Yeah evidence STRONGLY suggests having kids causes unhappiness.

While I agree with fuck having kids, obviously they bring satisfactuon, like a lottery ticket . What's gonna happen with THIS ONE?!

I want to be a writer. Well, just one of the things I want to do as a hobby. Just pump out a few papers on philosophy and ethics, controversial subjects I think need to be addressed, I have some really interesting ideas that are just way out there that I haven't come across before. It's going to take a lot of work and I can't do it in this state. Hopefully the Nardil will help, it usually only takes at most a month to kick in at the right dose.

Let me ask you this, if you truly claim to love the person you're going to create, why would you take such a serious risk of something so horrendous as autism occurring?

You just said they can bring "satisfaction". That's all about you, your selfish desires, not them.

What you have to realize is that you're essentially saying that you're creating a need where there was no need to be met purely in order to attempt to make you feel happy, fulfilled, to give you some sense of purpose in life, and most importantly, you're literally willing to risk letting someone die, practically kill them, or put them through a lifetime of intense suffering and misery, along with everyone that has to take care of them, all the resources that go into it, to do so.

Do you see the problem with this? Even if you can't fully understand, can you at least respect why some people might see it as unbelievably unethical?
  10. Malice Naturally Camouflaged
You know, if this really was all in my head and I could have been fine a long time ago (Really, if I had just accepted other people and had friends instead of going it alone in high school things would probably be radically different), then, god, I don't know what to say, there's just some profound feeling of "Why did I do this to myself?"

The Buddha did a lot of stupid shit too, he went through some pretty extreme asceticism like I did and it took him until 35 to break through.

Ultimately you just have to forgive yourself and let go of the past. I really regret not having educated parents I could relate to and have intelligent conversations with, that would nurture me and take me to the places people in those communities do. It's a terrible feeling knowing you're never going to be able to change that. At least if at some point in the future I attain happiness, then I'll be happy in the present, and the past will be nothing but a memory, some transient that doesn't really exist anymore.

I want to have friends, but I literally never learned how to make them and I have these enormous gaping holes in my social skills. I really don't think I come off as a likeable person IRL.

Now I just want to binge watch Evangelion again or something.

set some goals, post some work on here, if you feel like getting into it you can get articles published on sites like medium, maybe work toward being a staff writer or a freelancer once you've got some examples of your work.

I felt the same way until the end of high school - my parents literally never let me out when I was a kid... took some time to normalise.

it'd be worth your while to do something that exposes you to other people - support groups if you feel like it'd help, volunteer work, community college courses, anything that'll get you close to natural interaction - learning social cues from anime is the worst idea ever.

Basically what happened is one of my family members comes to my house and starts talking about how her spouse is abusing her,and then once myself and some other family members start talking about what we're going to do about it, she starts begging us not to do anything, and refuses to tell us the whole story

That's called being an attention whore and it's fucking annoying

Damn. Yeah, there are a lot of people that live fucked up lives. At least I didn't grow up in the bible belt with some fundamentalist nutjobs and wasn't abused, if I had I'm sure I would be dead by now.

It's something you may have to grapple with for the rest of your life.

There are some nice animals sanctuaries nearby I'm planning to volunteer at. About 2 years ago I volunteered at the Berkeley animal shelter and fostered a kitten, but during the few times I heard/noticed people say and do some pretty awful things about/to me. People can be fucking assholes, and all it can take is you being quite an awkward, not saying anything, being a different race etc. for them to hate you. Unfortunately I do believe humans are inherently tribalistic, and few realize their nature, engage in enough introspection and learning to truly understand themselves, to realize certain things and change. Unfortunately there's very little you can do to change other people, but you can change yourself.

You would expect that people volunteering at animal shelter would be nicer, but I suspect some of them may have just been there to put it on their college applications, or other selfish reasons. Something I've also wondered if whether the rate of misanthropy tends to be considerably higher among those who prefer animals over others. It makes sense that people who view the world a certain way would be drawn to that, I'm a misanthrope myself, but at least I literally don't assume anything about a person due to the way they look, their superficial physical appearance and demeanor, and keep in mind that there are a multitude of invisible disabilities that you can't tell just by looking at someone.

As for it being in Berkeley, the liberal/leftist mecca of America, I pretty much expected that at their core most would be bad people due to all the data I've seen (The General Social Survey has produced some interesting results, it's the far leftists that show clear signs of being far more likely to possess mental problems and other terrible behavior, and of course if you just read and observe enough it's so obvious that this tends to be the rule among them, not the exception!), at least towards the outgroup: http://slatestarcodex.com/2014/09/30/i-can-tolerate-anything-except-the-outgroup/

The way I've thought about it for a while is that people generally base their self-perception of their moral character on their tribal alignments. For example, on the right you can just bible thump and go to church once a week, but outside the ones that fly the Jesus flags highest are some of the worst people you'll ever meet. On the left, leftist ideology has replaced Christianity as their religion, and the further to the left the more morally self-righteous they tend to be. Just vote for leftist parties, get angry at things on the internet, and post comments or have conversations with your friends about how people who disagree with you are the worst on earth, say and assume the worst things imaginable about them, even go as far as to commit violence and discrimination against them (Jonathan Haidt wrote an interesting paper about bias in academia that confirmed it occurs even there, the majority of liberals in academia literally overtly admitted they were willing to discriminate against conservatives, and conservatives were actually far less likely to do the same!), and just pour as much hatred towards them as possible.

There's this term I came across a while ago that's used by the alt-right to describe modern leftist/progressive ideology: The Cathedral
And it's a perfect term, because that's exactly what it is.

Abusive relationships can also warp people's psychology to the point that clear cut victims will defend an abusive spouse. I mean attention whoring is possible, but keep in mind it might more serious than you think. It's worth seriously considering at least.

This entire screed is amazingly hypocritical.

Intellectual honesty protip: If you are criticising a position in a venue where there isn't at least one person who 1. explicitly holds the position you're critisizing and 2. is free to respond without serious personal repercussions then you're not having a real argument, you're shouting into an echo chamber.

while in general it's pretty apt, what you may not realise is even if they believe otherwise, people tend to be a lot more moderate in public. On the internet it's easy to build an echo chamber and only interact with/absorb media from people who agree with you, and there are few repercussions to aggressively voicing your opinion on any platform you can, especially if you feel you have the moral imperative to do so.

Generally speaking, if a person benefits from being in a group (ie. a workplace, group of friends etc.) they'll avoid bringing up topics that will negatively affect the group's cohesion.

And yeah, a lot of people who work with animals tend to be 'misanthropes' in a sense, in that they have trouble identifying with other people and hold them to unrealistic ideals and standards. From what I've seen it's pretty common in volunteers and part-time workers, but not nearly so much in professionals or people who've chosen to make their work a career.

Also this person has a history of drug abuse and attention whoring, I lived with her at one point and she had the entire family turned against me at one point because I was getting angry and yelling at her. Normally myself and the rest of the family would let her do her shit but now she's had a baby with this guy and everyone wants to "protect the innocent child"

Also we have bought her surveillance cameras and phones but she won't record the guy doing anything for some retarded reason
