I don't have any percentages or other numbers in front of me right now. But if memory serves AMMONAL is slightly more powerful than straight up ANFO, best ANFO is a type ofAMMONAl made with nitromethane as the fuel oil component. Of all the compositions ANNM with micro particles of aluminum has the highest VoD and Brisance of all ANFOs.

Still though, not powerful enough to destroy a tank with, however an IED of such a design might be employed to blast the tracks of a tank to bits, or at the very least severely damage said tracks. Which takes the enemy tank out of the fight without destroying it completely.

If you blow a tank up thirty feet into the air, you can bet you've at least severely injured the occupants and put the tank out of commission. You don't have to penetrate its armor to kill it.

I know, thats what anti-armor rounds that cause spalding do as well. But like i said you need an ungodly amount of ANFO to blow a 50-70 ton metal box 30 feet into the air. It's wasteful, and takes too much time to prepare, time you don't have in a war.
  4. Here's what just 4 pounds does.

there's a reason HEAT rounds and EFPs are used instead of just HE: they're so much more efficient and reliable
  6. I wonder what would happen to the occupants of a tank if they ran over a live 760,000 volt power line.

according to allegedly leaked documents from the Ukrainian Security Council, 40% of the Ukrainian territory is under Russian control and over 75% of the Ukie military is either destroyed or locked into cauldrons.

    Source?
  9. It's from a leaked internal Ukrainian document on RUNET.
  10. Why are the Russian calling this a “special operation”?

"I would argue that this is a type of operation which has never been seen before. Ever. My friend Andrei Martyanov coined a very good term, he called it a “combined arms police operation”. Let me explain “combined arms” is, in the Russian military terminology, the “the main form of combat of modern armies, in which the efforts of formations, units and units of various types of ground forces are combined and coordinated with the actions of other types of armed forces“. This type of warfare can only be conducted by combined arms units and implies an operational-level dimension. In other words, a combined arms operation has nothing in common with a police operation, yet in this case Andrei Martyanov is right – what we are seeing here is a police operation whose aim is to disarm and apprehend/neutralize a criminal force which itself is so big that it is capable of operational-level warfare. Normally, police operations are always on the low end of tactical level sectrum (division, brigade, regiment, battalion, company, platoon) and rarely involve more than maybe a few APCs. This is clearly not the case today in the Ukraine where combat operations are clearly reaching operational and even strategic levels."

What does that mean in practice?

"First and foremost, that the goal of the operation is to deny the enemy the use of all the technologies and infrastructure needed to operational level combat: communications, ammunition, petroleum, oil, lubricants, air support, reconnaissance and targeting, etc. etc. etc. Once that goal has been achieved, you cannot speak of a “Ukrainian armed forces” anymore, but only of specific subunits fighting at a tactical level. Again, the goal is not to kill a maximal number of Ukies or to flatten cities. The goal is to lower the level or combat operations the Ukies are capable of. This objective is been almost completely achieved. The key indicator of this success is that the Ukies are not capable of coordinated maneuver anymore. Even better (or worse, depending on whom you support), the Russian have total air superiority, which makes any movements very very dangerous (Russian fixed and rotary wing CAS operations include “free hunts” in free fire zones)."

    it checks out too

Ukraine lost the bulk of its air, standoff and C4ISR within the first few hours and over 60% of their ground military is currently locked into the eastern cauldron, so there really can't be much left over.

The bit about AZOV and pals being out of control checks out too; there are multiple well-documented instances of them embedding their weapons in civilian populations, preventing evacuations and firing artillery indiscriminately. There are even a few cases of the Ukrainian military attacking them (they dropped a TOCHKA-U on an AZOV base in Mariupol the other day)

so apparently part of the SBU executed Kireev, one of the negotiating committee with Russia, for treason in Kiev without official charge or investigation.

only it turns out he was actually a well-regarded member of the Ukrainian GRU and is being regarded as a martyred hero:

It's pretty crazy that there are apparently 1.4 million Ukrainians (heritage) in Canada, making it thr biggest diaspora for them outside of Russia. Trudeau is going to get some votes he doesn't deserve for his escalating measures
