   Jordans were actually a better product when they were a sole venture by Nike. Once they branched the quality control went south err east as in China lol.
   
   I've got J's from the early 90's still structurally perfect then some from 5 years ago already failing.

   The reason for this is landfills. The Plastics made today only take 2-3 years to break down in soil and will start breaking down above ground in around 7-10 years. everything is design as to not take 200 years to break down that plastics 30 plus years back were doing.
