Crimea was a special case. The Eastern regions have been wanting to join Russia for a while, but trying to absorb them would be very risky both politically and economically for Russia. Interestingly enough there is a LOT of domestic public and political support (largely due to the way they're being treated by the Ukrainian authorities), but it's Putin himself that's been refusing to act on it because he doesn't want to have to eat the cost of rehabilitating their infrastructure as well as the political fallout.
Russisan intervention will likely become inevitable if the next 'ATO' is successful though - that's what this thread is about, a massive new operation appears to be ramping up. If the UAF mounts enough of an offensive to break LDNR's lines, Putin will be forced to act by the Russian people. Many of the 'volunteer battalions' openly support the UPA and NSDAP and even the mainstream political apparatus talks about 'purging' and 'obliterating' Russian-speaking populations.
If/when this happens I expect it to be limited to standoff strikes to blunt the UAF offensive but it gets extremely unpredictable from there, depending on who gets involved and how.
Jesus, i knew the volunteer battalions had a lot of NSDAP inspired ideology, but i wasn't aware mainstream political machinery was brewing up what amounts to a precursor for actual genocide. Also, starting a mass offensive with Russia sitting on the border seems to me a course of action devoid of strategic value(Besides provoking Russia) and downright delusional. -

What I've said is that Russia has no interest in invading, and the only two reasons they're going to get directly involved is if the US tries to host strategic weapons there or if the UAF tries to actively exterminate the people of the LDNR.
And you know this how? Did you talk to Putin? Do you know his thoughts on this? If you haven’t you need to STFU. There is plenty of psych ops going on from both sides, so you cannot be sure unless you speak to Putin.

The lads in the east getting ready to kick off is very concerning, but there's not much anyone can do. As far as I can tell both the separatists and the nationalists are the scum of the earth, and the fighting is being done mostly by crazy hot heads and neo-nazi types. Both sides have a bunch of different militias going on and they are largely being funded by jedis (the irony). The whole thing is very unpredictable, and I hope the national governments can stay out of it and just let them slaughter each other. However the media is very much pushing for war.
The hot take on how World War I was started is basically that the wire services started informing events with news which was rife with jingoism and chauvism - on both sides. They took minor events and escalated them in the public consciousness until both sides were braying for war. There were different wire services in different countries, but they were all run by a small group of jedis who knew each other - Havas in France, Wolff in Germany, Reuters in Britain. They all trafficked in the same paranoia, chauvinism and fear. -

No you haven’t a clue what is going on any more than anyone else. Zelensky was asking yesterday why we haven’t imposed the economic sanctions yet. He wants us to impose them now. Hmmmm I wouldn’t call that a denial by the Ukrainian govt. You can’t stand it that you really haven’t a clue what’s up. You are wrong about the invasion, and you can’t/won’t admit it. It’s a coming, although Russia is gonna do all it can to place the blame on the US. Too bad they’re releasing russian intelligence so the American people are aware.

The LDNR militias don't really have the capability to take any more territory, especially such a large population centre
