Las Vegas is 2100 feet above sea level but in a valley plateau as well. Reno is like 3800 feet I believe and where I am looking the altitude is 4200 plus feet. but reno is also in a large valley. it's flat and there is desert all around it. Not all deserts are below sea level
Denver is in a valley yet it's exactly a mile high. 5280 feet above sea level. but it's not in the mountains. the mountain range is around it. its mostly flat

Originally posted by Lanny Never had altitude sickness before. Definitely found I got out of breath by doing less (e.g. a couple flights of stairs) but never light headedness or nausea or anything.
That said, last time I was at real high altitudes I was in my early twenties and I’m fat and old now so who knows.
You can buy those pulse-oximeters you know. The one you clip on your middle finger and it will tell you O2 saturation, your heart beats per minute and if you have a a fancy one you can see your PQRST cycle, AKA your heart rhythm.
That said any less than 98% O2 in your blood and you should be wary. If it goes lower you may be in trouble. -

I thought since you can technically get to the Atlantic ocean from Chicago's great lake. that Chicago is like 6 feet above sea level. It's nearly 400 feet. How in the fuck does that happen? is it like a roller coaster ride out of the lake? -

However its spelled. its a mountain that peaks yet it is used to describe a mountain with a flat top as if it has been shaved off.. this is how high peaks have prairies.
its like a very tall mountain that doesn't have a pointed top but rather it's flat top. or is the start of a valley between mountain ranges. -

Platão is Portuguese for the philosopher Plato. LOL. We know what a plateau is.
