running a hidden service is established through the outbound connection to the tor gateway/guard nodes; you don't need open ports -

Oh if you can connect to a service on a computer tethered to a phone that way then it would definitely imply the ISP for the phone is not multiplexing subscribers into external IP addresses like I was suggesting. I was just guessing that’s what they’d do since usually a phone doesn’t need to be externally contactable like that -
2021-12-31 at 2:03 AM UTCmost verizon, tmobile, and ATT cellular plans ( consumer cellphone & tablet plans ) use carrier-grade NAT so users are sharing a public IP with other subscribers and to my knowledge none of them provide an interface to users to set up any port-forwarding. I have heard that sprint gave subscribers their own IP, but theyre gone/going away.
not sure if theyre doing differently for the cellular home-internet plans -
