It crossed my mind at one point anyway. Not that I couldn't layer up and just walk outside when it's cold as fuck but I like the idea of becoming a part of the MALL KREW and becoming a little buddy to all the old ladies.
I don't know if there are mall SPRINTERS but I might do that too just blow past everyone doing one POWER SPRINT through the mall and immediately leaving, wearing a mask and cape and never revealing my identity just being know as The Masked Sprinter Guy.
I'd also sprinkle little pieces of hard candy and fortune cookies along my path so they know I mean well.

I think for basic health, way more important than doing strenuous exercise is just doing something regularly. And a big part of that can very much be social.
So I think mallwalking might actually be awesome for you. You seem to like being around other people. I can't stand interacting most people at length so I envy you.
I've adopted a "gain with no pain" strategy myself. I no longer exercise to full exertion. Soreness is the enemy because that means I have to break or adjust my daily routine. So I go to 70-80% of my max reps depending on the exercise. I'm not putting on more weights much any more but I feel much better simply being regular and having no soreness. It gets me in the mood every single day. -
