2020-10-27 at 12:30 AM UTCwould be nicer if it was a whole squad of armed dudes with armor enforcing the cart etiquette.
That should be a thing where you pass a background check and take a course and you can use deadly force to enforce such etiquette. The national IQ would increase and carts would be in their correct place.
Maybe carts should have some sort of device attached to them that enforces putting carts back in their place. People are lazy, so make all carts assisted by electric motor. But to use them you have to put a cuff on your hand that is connected via wire to the battery that shocks you if you try to take the cuff off anywhere other than the cart area. It would shock indians as well by default with a lethal shock.
Fund it. -

The shopping cart is the ultimate litmus test for whether a person is capable of self-governing.
To return the shopping cart is an easy, convenient task and one which we all recognize as the correct, appropriate thing to do. The return of the shopping cart is objectively right. There are no situations other than dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their cart. Simultaneously, it is not illegal to abandon your shopping cart. Therefore the shopping cart presents itself as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do it. No one will punish you for not returning the shopping cart, no one will fine you or kill you for not returning the shopping cart, you gain nothing by returning the shopping cart. You must return the shopping cart out of the goodness of your heart. You must return the shopping cart because it is the right thing to do; because it is correct.
A person who is unable to do this is no better than an animal, an absolute savage who can only be made to do what is right by threatening them with a law and the force that stands behind it.
The shopping cart is what determines whether a person is a good or bad member of society. -

Holy shit where is this from? Last time I saw this was in Israel 20 yrs ago.
p.s. and in Israel there are coins with denominations to up 10 INS, and the carts would take 5 INS, so its like a little over a dollar; more incentive than 25 cents, and can be up to 2.5 dollars if they made em to take 10 INS coins instead.
IDK what you have there in Canada, but the u.s. was complaining about some invisible "coin shortage"; so they would probably never adopt common circulation coins over 25cents, even though they really should, what with the inflation and purchasing power, etc. -

not returning those carts to their rightfulplaces provides job opportunity for people with an iq below 83.
by not returning the carts it shows that i am a good, job providing person and one who knows how economics work. -

I visited Quebec and BC when I was younger, but I never needed a shopping cart. 🤷♀️
I've been to more US states than Canadian provinces. Although to be perfectly fair here - and to put Canada into a bit of perspective - the drive from Toronto to Winnipeg (the next province over) is about as long as the drive from the capital of Maine to Miami. -
2021-05-21 at 12:07 AM UTCChicago to Miami is actually probably a better comparison. That trip is within about 100 miles of the trip from Toronto to Winnipeg (assuming you stay in Canada the whole time).
