I know a little bit about Spanish, but I really only know English, which is why I ask.
As for me, I would probably choose Mandarin.
I think in Dutch, unless i am writing or reading English. The transition is effortless, i don't actively have to translate anything i just understand, read and speak English as if it were my first language. -

Did you learn English through school or did you teach yourself?
How long have you spoken it fluently?
Does most everyone you know
ovwr there also speak English?
Did your parents speak both languages to you growing up?
Do you converse always in Dutch irl or do you have English conversations with other Dutch/English speakers?
Thank you. -

It's not ridiculously hard. A lot depends on how much you immerse yourself in it. I'll admit my first year or so in the US I sounded a bit like an illiterate 3 year old :/ English has a lot of synonyms.
Are you learning another language in high school? -

Chinese would be absolutely horrible to learn if you wanted to be a translator. The country is full of absolute shits. Mao really fucked up an entire generation and now everybody is an entitled asshole. They've got this awful gang mentality and a growing nationalism. You're basically fucked if you ever get into a situation involving the police. They'll literally take your passport. Everybody will look down on you like you're a lower class citizen.
You are a trophy to be paraded to Chinese people, that's where their hospitality comes from. It's all about making themselves look good and international and making China look good too. The people are disgusting, both hygienically and morally. There's this huge culture of copying the best, leading to dull, mindless robots. Their work culture basically demands that you go out on weekends with your boss and co-worker and get wasted all the time. Which sounds great at first, but then you'll be basically trapped into it. You can't deny this. That's rude. You HAVE TO get wasted with your boss EVERY time you're invited out. The person who drinks the most is the most manly. The person who smokes the most cigarettes is the most manly.
It's like being 16 again.
And don't forget that they've got this huge hatred of drugs. Weed, meth, LSD, it doesn't matter. To them it's all the same. Weed is just as bad as heroin because its drugs, and if you're ever, ever caught with it you will be so utterly fucked. Remember the whole nationalist thing I was talking about? Think about how much hatred these people will have at a foreigner who's been caught bringing drugs into the country. You better hope you get extradited. It doesn't always happen. Especially if they get you for smuggling.
The roads are absolute stress. I mean you may think, "Well darn, that time I went to New York was pretty hectic" but that's just hobcock to trying to drive in China. People will drive on the sidewalks. They'll drive on the opposite side of the street. They'll cut you off with no regard for a 'turn.' Chinese people don't know what the word means. Defensive driving? Ha! You may as well kill yourself. Driving on Chinese roads is survival of the fittest.
Sure, you can drink beer wherever you want. And yes, it's a fairly safe country. You won't get robbed walking around at 3am. But goddamn if it isn't the worst country I've ever had the displeasure of setting foot in. I've heard nothing but horror stories of china. You're better off going to Japan or Vietnam or Korea if you want to check out an Asian country. Thailand if you want a little red light in your life.
Avoid China at all costs. -

I had a friend just come back from china and she said she liked it but you definitely have to not come off as touristy. I've heard good and bad things about it. It's pretty third world and a lot of people I think don't understand that. -

THEIR LIKE A DOZEN OF DIFFERENT CHINESES AVAILABLE FOR SPEAK, SO WHICH CHENISE YOU INTEND TO LEARN ?????
I'VE SEEN ASSHOLES THAT HAD LEARN CHINESE AND CAME HERE AND THINKING THAT THEY'D ARMED THEMSELVES WITH ''CHINESE'', TRY TO CONVERSE WITH ME. I'D NORMALLY REPLY WITH A DIFFERENT KIND OF CHINESE UPON HEARING THESE ASSHOLES AS AN INDICATION THAT THEIR CHINESE DONT WORK IN THIS PART OF CHINESE PLACE.
YOUR CHINESE IS NO GOOD HERE.
Are you Chinese? Is Mandarin or Cantonese your main dialect?
I ask chinese coworkers (who I believed to be my friend) how to say something in Chinese but most of the time they look at me and say "Naw, just focus on work" or something to get out of telling me.
The only thing we all said was "Aye Yaa" like "WTF" or whatever the literal translation is. more of a grunt noise of disappointment when your car breaks down. Cantonese seems easier to learn, but I keep forgetting what I learn. it's hard to associate word for word. I need Rosetta stone, then blend in with friends willing to teach me connotations and perhaps watch Chinese children shows as well as Soap Operas or Chinese Drama. -

This right here is why I lost all interest in learning Hmong. They either do this or say something different and then if I try to repeat it to someone else I find out that I just said some fucked up insult or something -

well i took 3 years of spanish and i can speak it well enough to get by if i need to but the thing i had the most trouble with was verb tenses, all the different endings and stem changing shit is ALOT of shit to memorize and i dont live in a mexican enough area to stay brushed up on it. i try and make an effort to refresh my memory and pick apart what i hear in spanish while im working or out in public or something, but my spoken spanish is probably terrible -

I think if they take over the USA and end up managing it properly.. they don't want whites to know what they're saying (Or blacks or whoever else) and we will be confined to our own special neighborhoods. :|
We will also probably be the next coolies laying rail tracks for their 800mph bullettrains. they dont care about derailment.. there is enough people on earth as it is. it's about efficiency and getting back to work.
