No it doesn't lol. You need to learn the difference between voltage and amps. I've used one in Taiwan where they use 110V. Few minutes and its done.
Most Americans have a more powerful hookup but its usually reserved for the laundry machine. You don't need 200+ volts for most things in your house. Thats why we have resistors and regulators to control voltage and not blow out our Kieregs and electric kettles.
It's completely cultural, it has nothing to do with the electrical system you retard. I know damn well you got that information from the first result on google. -

220v is better as you lose less energy to transmission losses in the wires.
You can't even run an English style 3kW electric kettle on 110v AC on a domestic system.
Watts (heat) = volts * amps.
Resistive loss (meaning in the wire) is function of amps. Keeping amps low and volts high you can get more energy to where it is wanted cheaper and more safely than using something so weak it can't even kill you, like 110v. -
2020-09-29 at 2:28 PM UTCThat's a lot of irrelevant information that doesn't change the fact that electric kettles will heat up in 2 or 3 minutes regardless of what country you're in.

It will be ready in just a minute!

I've got one of those Emeril air fryers that they advertise on tv for $200. I got mine for only $130 when Sam's had a sale. (Normally $160 at Sam's.) I use it a lot. It air fries, bakes, roasts, toasts, rotisseries, dehydrates, etc. It has 12 functions and I love it. Short of my coffeemaker and microwave to reheat things quickly, it is by far my most used kitchen appliance. -

2020-09-29 at 5:06 PM UTCThats like a Chinese person with an electric wok. they like to heat up over a gas stove.
what a dumb thing to invent unless it's for college students. Just get a teapot and heat the water over the stove like a normal human being.
Brits are fucking weird. -

TBF an electric kettle heats up really quickly. But a Kiereg will do that AND make coffee/hot chocolate so the winner is clear really.
Also kettles are unsanitary. -

Around here the Chineses love their electric rice cookers. They drop a cup or two of rice and some water in in the morning, and in the evening they have nice rice.
I never really figured out how they work, but they seem to be pretty great, and make yummy rice. -

It comes out firmer and less starchy sticky than on the stove top. I think due to reduced heat? Its perfect for stir fry and can even be used fresh out of the pot unlike stove rice. Talking about the pot style cookers, not the steamers. Steamers are what Asians like because it gets sticky and is easier to use with chopsticks.
