You should get an Xbox Series X + GamePass, I've been using GamePass a lot on my PC because it lets me easily try a bunch of different games for a super cheap subscription.
I was recommend that you get a gaming PC and connect it to your TV + any wireless controller, but then I remembered you are a skullgont and probably want to avoid the effort.

I don't have any video game systems, I didn't even know it was coming out so soon, likely doesn't have any good games for it yet. I might get one and use having a kid as an excuse. I play the least amount of video games as anyone on this site which is 0.00 hours per month. If I had a ps5 I might play if there were good games or even if it was reverse compatible with ps4 games. Would be cool to see kids playing it with that as their foundation for what a "video game" is when mine is sonic the hedgefaggot's gay ass

So basically right now if I were you I'd go with an i5, gtx 780 or 1080 and 8gb of ram, then in a few years when the 4000 series is out or the 3080 goes down in price get one of those and an i7 along with 16 or 32gb of ram.
It would be foolish to invest in anything expensive right now since tech is at such a crucial point things are going to change do rapidly.
By 2024/25 HMDs will be 4k standard with 8K on the higer end and by then the 3080 might be slightly out of date.

In fact with the way things change so quickly with VR in 2025 8k could be the standard with 16k+ on higher end hmds.
