I know what Ombudsman means, the Dutch equivalent is exactly the same. I'm probably biased. The thing is. English is a Germanic language but it likes to hang out with French a lot. Ombudsman is definitely not French. -

Stream of consciousness. I just type what goes on in my mind 80% of the time. It makes sense though, because what i perhaps should have communicated is that i did not expect a word derived from Norse in English, because English does that a lot more with French. I jumped to a conclusion. -

Iv'e always seen more German influance in english. Maybe it's a matter of perspective as your native language is much much closer to German than is mine.
