Penelope Avamour is my spirit animal, and she has the best edits. But i can't even find videos without edits longer than 2 minutes. Like genuine archival footage from places such as British Pathe.

Germany did nothing wrong in WWI the treaty of Versailles ensured someone like Hitler would come along. You reap what you sow. Germans shouldn't feel ashamed at all. Germany is a great country. What are you talking about? I'm probably more German that you. Maybe not, I'm like 12% or something. Germans are proud of who they are, with and without nazism, which was an extension of the german identity, then they got rid of that identity and still kept being German. It's not that they talk about how they did anything wrong, it's just their feelings about it, fighting wars with the world and how that affects their german identity. You're also talking about your experience as a non-german, who does not live in "the true Germany" which is likely "what you want germany to think about itself" and not what the German identity really is.

My grandmother was born there and immigrated during the recession between wars. My grandfather was half or a quarter, definitely more than none.
Neither of us are qualified to speak on German identity because neither of us can call ourselves German and be genuine. This is like white pundits speaking for black people on CNN and is super cringey. I'm more Scottish than German but I'd think it was very cringey to be talking about Scottish identity like I had a perfect understanding of all of it. Plus identity can be collective, personal, intrinsic, extrinsic and most of all multifaceted. And you can't pretend to know with certainty anything that's so intangible and changing.
