Also doctors can still choose to go private in Canada, they just have to opt out of working for the public system.

US system is failed in other areas. An American can travel to Spain, have his knee surgery, take a months long vacation, and with loss of income from taking off work even, you still come out on top compared to having the surgery in the US. An American insurance company would likely get the same pricing as a hospital in Spain would give you. But you as a consumer in the US do not get the same price the insurance company gets.
Trump has been working somewhat on this. Last I heard he had passed some orders to make the pricing systems transparent, i.e. the cost the insurance company pays for the same operation will have to be disclosed.
Because tax wise, it doesn't add up (unless there's severe income inequality). As a working person, you should be able to easily take 2% of your income and put it to healthcare. Which in socialist countries, is forcefully taken from you. Due to lesser taxation, you're also likely to have some family members who've been able to save up extra money to help you out.
In the US you choose who your extra money goes to. In Europe, and Canada, your extra money is forcibly taken from you and given to the needy. Either system should see the vast majority of it's patients fine. Again the problem in the US is the extreme income inequality that's taken place since the 60's with hyper capitalism and unequal pricing.

The US already has a version of universal health care. Hospitals won’t turn you away if you can’t pay. They budget for an estimate of write offs, which ultimately hit the tax payers.

So if you were in the lawn maintenance business would you be ok with the government telling you that you could cut as many acres per day as you want but you can only charge $25 per acre and you have to cut anyone's lawn who can pay you?

It would be more accurate analogy if the landscapers formed an association and then created a fee schedule with a fair base payment for each lawn they serviced plus additional fees depending on the specific care each lawn requires which is then billed to the government and paid for by taxes.

JIDF Controlled Opposition
I've always believed some primary industries should be state-controlled to provide vital products and services (ie. medical, maybe grain farming, mass transit etc.) with the goal of providing the best services at the lowest prices possible and at a stable rate without regard for profits or the interests of shareholders.
It becomes difficult in a mixed economy though, considering state-run industries would still need suppliers and support from private industry which opens the door to more exploitation so it's hard to say whether it'd even end up having the intended effect

Well then he should have had priorities on what he spent his money on each month. When I was working independently i had to get my own health coverage. You know what I did? I decided what I was going to cut out of my budget and what was a necessity in order to make sure I had my insurance premium paid every month. You know, like a responsible adult would do.
All you democrat fuckers are all about not being held accountable for your actions. Durrrr ashtrayneisha couldnt afford her insurance because she had to bail out her boyfriend from jail and buy weed. Da gubberment should pay for her health care right? Not her fault she/her family are multiple felons in and out of jail. Oh wait they pay for all nig gers health care anyway while i paid about 300 a month for a single healthy male with shitty ass coverage
Oh yeah you were such a good boy for sacrificing your quality of life significantly in the statistically overwhelmingly unlikely event that you would need coverage.
Lol, classic "I got pounded in the ass so everyone should have to get pounded in the ass or they aren't as virtuous as me".
Insurance is a scam and you don't want to admit you got scammed and fucked, that's all there really is to it.
You'd have cheaper and better coverage through taxes that literally improve the lives of everyone in your country, but you're so ass pained by the idea that the money is being used to help people who have less, you would rather just guve more money to some insurance jéw's yacht fuel budget instead, all while not using it.
