   I'd never heard of TCL but apparently this is the best selling 50" TV on Amazon and has good reviews (Chinese of course).
   
   I got this one because it was the only 50" one my local Wallyworld had in stock…I said to the assistant "I want to buy a TV"..she said "which one"…I said…"well looking at the shelf you only have 1…"

   
   I have the exact same one but from Costco, really cheap and decent but the software is so slow

   It wasn't wifi connected or a smart TV or anything like that.
   
   The firmware got corrupted after a certain period of time. It was apparently an issue with that model when I googled it.
   
   I got a new firmware on a USB and installed and the TV worked again.
