Farmer dumps 56k lbs of milk because nobody is buying it
-
2020-04-11 at 2:47 PM UTCI understand that the United Cows Dairy Council is suing to ensure their cows get paid for their production.
Hey, they did the work after all. -

Yeah no shit retard, but it’s not like nobody has that equipment. Why can’t this guy just contact one of the vendors that produce powdered milk and work out a deal? It’s in demand right now. The alternative is literally dumping money down the drain. If your business fails to turn a profit, you either adapt or go out of business. Or ask the government for a bailout apparently -

Milk lasts a week at the most. That is hardly enough time to draw out a contract. And even by the time they did draw it out, i imagine they aren't keen on using old milk to make powdered milk. Plus these powdered milk factories are likely already producing at capacity with milk from their long term partners. It's not even that much milk either in the grand scheme of things. It could fully stock maybe a dozen grocery stores if that. What powdered milk producer is going to drop everything and deal with a logistical hassle just for a small amount of milk they'd make a few thousand on at most.
Plus I'm sure the farmer didn't just toss it out not giving a fuck. For sure he tried to sell it. Farmers don't just let product sit around and go bad. If they do, something is wrong. And something is clearly wrong.
You try processing 56k lbs of milk within a week. Lets see how far you get. -

They do, but it's not good for them and you wouldn't want to be feeding a bunch of cows and bulls milk. Also if they're beef cows, a high protein diet will fuck up their meat. These cows are fed a very specific nutrition blend. They don't just give them plain hay. Everything is fortified and loaded with hormones so that they grow and produce at an accelerated rate. These animals are growing up about 2-3x faster than in the early 1900s thanks to nitrogen rich diets and genetic engineering. It's a very delicate balance. You don't just 'give them milk'. It would fuck up their entire farm. Adult cows are still lactose intolerant, you know. -
2020-04-11 at 5:43 PM UTCI have a trick where I can force a woman to lactate, if I run out of milk for my morning coffee.

these are milk farmers we're talking about, so obviously their cows are milk cows.
and no, cows arent lactose intollerant. -

Holy shit you are stupid.
Yes, it poses disease risks. You don't want your cows getting heart disease or having GI issues from drinking milk. It's not great for humans either but about 1/3 of us developed an immunity towards lactose.

You mentioned bulls... There are no milk bulls.
Adult cows and bulls are absolutely lactose intolerant. Essentially every mammal is lactose intolerant as an adult. -
