2020-03-24 at 1:37 AM UTCActually since you're around, what do you think of electrically-fired cartridges, percussive primers wouldn't be necessary at all would they?

2020-03-24 at 1:53 AM UTCa 63 year old woman killed the world record for 'biggest bear killed' with a .22 rifle at one time.

there are many other guns most of the time that i'd rather be shooting for various reasons. but under-estimating the .22 is wrong, especially out of a rifle, especially with modern ammunition. and you can't over-estimate the value of having thousands and thousands of rounds for chump change. basically a life time supply for hunting costs a couple hundred bucks. 1000 rounds weighs about five pounds and can fit into a medium ziplock bag.
spectral is wrong about .22 going through armor, and mostly wrong about it 'pinballing' around. but don't think that a .22 won't take your life. it unquestionably will. -

2020-03-24 at 2:04 AM UTCI have a Ruger 10/22 and 22/45 and a S&W kit gun. They’re some of my favorite weapons. I wouldn’t hesitate to carry them if I had nothing else, in some situations I would actually prefer to carry them.
I’m not underestimating the .22. Spectral is just talking complete shit. Armor piercing .22, what a load of absolute shit. If I know I’m going up against someone with body armor I’ll take my POF or FN Scar 17 and leave the ruger at home -

There's already been demonstrations, available to view on YouTube even, which show a .22 can get through some armor weaves, where larger rounds can't. -

I don’t give a fuck what some JèwTube moron did in a stupid video in the comfort of his backyard under perfect conditions. In a combat situation against opponents with body armor, you want a high capacity, high caliber battle rifle. Most ballistic armor can’t hold up to multiple shots anyway -

If 22 was more effective in combat, why doesn’t any military in the world use it? Think for one fucking second idiot.
If all you have is something in 22, use it, it’s better than nothing. The rest of us who live in an actual free country will go ahead and continue to pack real heat -

no…the anvil point is pointing at the flat metal of the 'outside' of the primer where the firing pin impacts. the priming compound is between the anvil point and the disk. it is crushed by the hammer smashing the flat part of the primer against the anvil.
i have done almost everything imaginable to fuck with primers to get them to go off and the only reliable way to get them to is impact with the firearm firing pin.
thread is great again. -
