Have you made pork with apples? DONT cook the apples with the pork though.
What I usually do is set a pork roast in the crock pot, rubbed simply with salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, and slices of onions on top. I like to leave them like onion rings because i love cooked onions.
Sweet potatoes in oven wrapped in tinfoil for 1h @ 375.
Then take about 2-3 apples per person, peel them, cut into slices, and put them in a pan with sugar and cinnamon. NO fats. The water from the apples will keep it from sticking. I used a bit of butter once and it was not good and apple pie like.
You also want crisp, hard, preferably small green apples. They'll hold their form better and become sweeter with heat, and the sour flavor will mellow a bit. Big and sweet apples will disintegrate and become apple sauce like.
This is a fucking king's meal I'm telling you. Goes well with asparagus on the side. -
