ive melted hundreds of hard-drive platters and they always wind up as charred 'globs' that are brittle and no description of 'chunk.' it would be physically impossible to extract any former data from the resultant glob. the temperature is an absolute minimum of 1,000 degrees, at which no magnetic data can possibly survive. -
